Luxury cars has always been the trend set by BMW since its inception 1916. Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, or Bavarian Motor Works, is a German automobile manufacturing company known throughout the world as BMW. Before BMW started business in manufacturing vehicles, it began as an Aircraft engine manufacturer. It was originally a merge of three companies: Rapp Motorenwerke, Bayerische Flugzeugwerke (BFw), and Fahrzeugfabrik Eisenach. It later took the name, Bayerische Motorenwerke in 1916. In 1917, it restructured its manufacturing line to motorcycles—because it was forced to stop all aircraft engine production due to the Versailles Armistice Treaty.
It was only in the late 1928 that BMW began producing automobiles. Licensed by the Austin Motor Company, BWM was able to launch its first vehicle on the road with the BMW Dixi. However as the Treaty was lifted off and the restrictions to build aircraft engines reopened for BMW, it focused its attention in building engines for flight while still manufacturing vehicles During and after World War II.
In 1958, the automotive line of BMW is beginning to sink. It then took the contract to build the Iso Isetta pulling BMW off the financial crisis. BMW also acquired Hans Glas Company and fully absorbing the company in the following years gaining more access to automobile technology by Glas. In 1994, it bought the Rover Group and owned the company for six years. In the onset of modern design and luxury line of vehicles sold, BMW gained reputation as a brand well-received by the public. This gave rise to a company that produces vehicles that are only dreamt by the majority of the population. Because of this popularity, BMW gained further attention when Forbes named it as the #1 Most Reputable Company in the World.
Having started with aircraft engines, the BMW logo centers an alternate white and blue propeller blade-like icon in four quadrants. The colors blue and white are the colors of the flag of Bavaria, BMWs homeland. This roundel is also an evolution of BMWs mother company Rapp Motorenwerke.
BMWs iconic advertisement portrayed its logo as an aircraft propeller cutting through the blue sky. This gained BMWs distinguishing logo of elegance and sophistication that is rich in history. This logo has never been redesigned only upgraded. Since the birth of the BWM Dixi, the logo has always been what is always was.
