At the height of this desire, even Adolf Hitler wanted his people to have access to a vehicle that can effectively transport a family. In 1938, a factory was built mainly to produce vehicles, however as the war erupted, it became a hub for military vehicle production.

The beetle was even brought home by the personnel who used these vehicles when they occupied Germany.
In 1949, Major Hirst left the company in the hands of West Germany. It was brought to America in the same year as a ‘victory wagon’ which later began a heavy increase in sales in America by 1955. It expanded from building the beetle to the Golf and a series of upgrades for the cars. The Volkswagen Golf second to the Beetle is the mark of Volkswagen producing seven generations of the vehicle. Since other car brands are beginning to enter the American market, Volkswagen began to expand its production line. This jumpstarted a whole set of market for the worldwide industry especially in America. To date, Volkswagen is the second largest automobile manufacturer in the world.
The Volkswagen logo is a combination of the letters ‘V’ and ‘W’ held together by an orbit. The simple yet attractive logo sports the company colors: blue and white. The blue hue signifies the company’s excellence and class while the white hue represents purity and charm.
